Spanish Phrases - Key Spanish Phrases

These key Spanish phrases are not always 100% grammatically correct; they are however very useful tools for beginning Spanish speakers to gain access to a wide range of phrases to help communicate in Spanish.

The trick with these phrases is that instead of having to memorize how to conjugate dozens of verbs, all you have to do is remember the infinitive of the verb and plug it in to the phrases below.

The most important thing to remember as a beginning speaker of Spanish, is that you listen to what the person speaking to you says. Many times they will repeat what you've said in proper Spanish in order to confirm their understanding of your request. A good listener can pick up a lot of Spanish this way. Whatever you do, you must practice patience. If people don't understand you resist the impulse to raise your voice, or get angry. Remember that a smile transcends all language barriers.
